Wine and Dine 2

Wine and Dine Dinner 2:

I was home for the weekend and decided to go out with my parents for a nice wine dinner and we figured we would go to a wine bar restaurant so we can pair the wines with the courses of our meal! Overall, my family and I had a wonderful time grabbing dinner together while I was home and including them in my fun homework blogging assignment! One cool thing about this was my waiter was a Hokie and knew about this class!

Appetizer:

Burrata Brushetta and Red Pepper Hummus.... This appetizer had tomato Brushetta, Rose Garden Micro Basil, Fresh Burrata, Balsamic Reduction, Buttered Ciabatta, Roasted Pepper Hummus, EVOO, Pita Chips, and Cucumbers. Below is some information about the wine that I tried!

Wine Name: A to Z
Varietal: Riesling
State: Oregon
Year: 2019
Body: Light

Details: Citrus, pear, stone fruit, crisp apple with a vibrant finish

First, we had the appetizer which was the Burrata Brushetta and Red Pepper Hummus! This appetizer was a great way to start off the meal and paired well with the wine. Before trying the appetizer I tried the wine to compare the difference of taste. Before having the appetizer I smelled the wine and I smelled Citrus, Apple scents and it smelled very vibrant. The taste before having the appetizer was very vibrant and bubbly and also I tasted the pear and apples and I really liked it.

With the appetizer, I think the sweet and savory mixed well together they are both acidic and worked well together. The hummus was SO GOOD and was very savory, smooth and silky, a 10/10. The appetizer made the wine in my opinion more tangy.

Dinner

Rosemary and Brown Sugar Ribeye... a 15 oz Pan Seared Ribeye, Potato Gratin, Chef's Seasonal Vegetables. Below is some information about the wine that I tried with my dinner!

Wine Name: Dark Harvest Chardonnay
Varietal: Chardonnay
State: Washington State
Year: 2019
Body: medium- light

Details: Crisp apple, touch of baked oak, smooth medium finish

Next, I got a big steak to treat myself and wow it was one of the best Ribeyes I have ever gotten. The wine I got was the Dark Harvest Chardonnay. The waiter recommended to have a Chardonnay with dinner so I tried this one because I like apple flavor anything. Before trying my dinner when I smelled the wine I smelled the sweet apple flavor. As I tasted it, it tasted smooth and I tasted the apples.

With the entree the apple taste in the wine paired well with the rosemary and brown sugar. The meat was sweet and savory and paired well with the sweet wine. I enjoyed this combination and really liked being able to try different wines with all of my courses.

Dessert: Lemon custard cake with berries and cream! Below is some information about the wine that I tried with my Dessert.

Wine name: Saurus
Varietal: Pinot Noir Rose
State/ Country: Argentina
Year: 2018
Body: Light

Details: Floral aromas with raspberry and strawberry, crisp and clean finish

Lastly, I got dessert and wow this was a great dessert! I got the Lemon custard cake with berries and cream and it was a perfect wine pairing with the Rose wine. Before I just smelled an aroma of floral scents and as I tasted it, it tasted sweet and I tasted the strawberries at first and the aftertaste I started tasting the raspberry. With the dessert, it was again an absolute perfect pairing. The strawberry and raspberry nodes I tasted and it was very light bodied.

Overall, this was the most perfect dinner and a fun way to spend time with my parents! They loved getting to try the different wines just as much as I did! All of my options paired so nicely together and it was nice going to a wine bar for dinner because of the numerous of options they had with their wines and their solid descriptors for the wines so I knew exactly how to pair them with my dinners when it came to choosing different flavors!
